If you live in Texas, you have access to a free online library that provides useful and oftentimes detailed information on companies and industries. Through TexShare, you have access to print, online materials and databases. To get a TexShare Card check with your local library or find a library near you.

Once you have a TexShare card, you can login to several business databases. Choose EBSCO Enhanced Business Search for information on companies and industries relevant to your small business. You can also search for business news using InfoTrac Newsstand or Regional Business News. I typically use the Advanced Search option to narrow down the date to keep the information relevant.

If you already operate or are starting a small business in Ellis, Freestone, Limestone or Navarro counties and would rather have someone else do the research for you, contact a Business Advisor at one of our four offices. Using subscription databases, they’ll provide in depth information on competitors, customers, industries, financial benchmarks and more at no charge to you.
